Ever wonder how your grout gets stained that red or orange color, even though you clean it frequently? We’ve learned that ingredients in certain soaps and shampoos cause this, and it will not come out even under the most aggressive cleaning. Even pure white Dove bar soap and liquid soap do this. Our client hired us to fix the problem once and for all. We thoroughly cleaned all tile and grout and then color sealed the grout to a smoke grey color. Check out the results - they look like new, and will never stain again! Citrus Plus is your trusted Bay Area carpet cleaner, upholstery cleaner, and tile and grout clean and color seal service.
It’s happened to many of us. You just had Citrus Plus, your trusted Palo Alto carpet cleaner by to make things spiffy, and BAM, someone knocks over a glass of juice on your freshly cleaned carpet. You panic and wonder what to do. I thought a quick entry on the topic was worthwhile, because I see so many people do the wrong thing in this instance, and I’ve seen it all. Baking soda, white wine, cover with paper towel and hope it goes away, bleach, soap, etc. Don’t do any of that!
The most important thing you can do for a carpet cleaning spill is act quickly in trying to remove as much as possible. Place a thick towel on the spill and absorb up any standing liquid. Next, place a dry section of towel on the spot and stand on it. Bounce. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. If you have a wet / dry vac (aka Shop Vac) pour some warm water on it, and vacuum out as much as you can. If you don’t have one, consider buying one for $50 - they’re super handy!
Finally, once you’ve REMOVED as much of the spill as possible, you can treat the area with your bottle of Citrus Plus Carpet Cleaning fluid. Shake, spray moderately, and blot out as much as possible. If you think you’ll need a professional carpet cleaner, call Citrus Plus, schedule an appointment, and try to keep the area damp until then.
You should note that no matter what you do, SOME stains may be permanent. Many things determine this, like what the stain is, what the temperature of the spill was (hot is bad), if food coloring was present (in that double caramel mocha latte’), any residual chemicals in the carpet, the chemistry of an offending pet, etc etc. Red dye and food and beverage colorings, sharpie or highlighter pens, food with turmeric, and hot tea and coffee left to dry are usually the most problematic.
Citrus Plus provides carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, and tile cleaning services to Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Menlo Park, Atherton, Redwood City,
Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, San Jose and beyond!
Disinfecting can be BAD! Why? Because when you disinfect, you kill ALL bacteria on a surface, including the BENEFICIAL BACTERIA. Bacteria are all over and inside us. In fact, in terms of cell count, humans are 90% bacteria, and only 10% human cells! Beneficial bacteria play a vital role in our lives, our eco system, and yes, even in carpet cleaning. When you disinfect, and kill bacteria, you set the stage for harmful bacteria to populate, feed on the remains left behind, and flourish. By utilizing probiotics in carpet cleaning, or cleaning of any nature, you ADD beneficial bacteria, tip the scales in their favor, and stop the reproduction of the harmful ones. Additionally, these beneficial bacteria produce enzymes to break down contaminants, biofilm, allergens, and by reducing or removing the non beneficial bacteria, you remove the odor they create! It’s an amazing use of science, and by working in conjunction with Mother Nature, rather than against (disinfecting), you improve your environment. Citrus Plus is the only floor and furniture cleaner in The Bay Area offering probiotic sanitizing with carpet cleaning or upholstery cleaning service! We offer upholstery cleaning, tile cleaning, and carpet cleaning in Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Altos, Atherton, Menlo Park, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, San Jose, and the greater Bay Area. If you don’t see your area, just ask. For more information, give us a call. We’d love to talk to you.
